L.E. McCoy, 94, long time resident of Terry, MS, died January 7, 2012. He attended Raymond - Hinds High School, and Draughon's Business College. He was a sales representative for Nabisco for 44 years, retiring in 1981.\ \ He was an active member of FBC Terry, serving in many ministries including leading and teaching Sunday School. He served as an active deacon for 50 years. He was active in missions, going on several mission trips to Illinois, Pennsylvania, and Ohio.\ \ Mr. McCoy was active in community and civic affairs. He was a charter member of the Terry Lions Club, served as a trustee for Terry High School, and was a member of Hinds County Farm Bureau Club. \ \ During WWII, he served four years in the Navy on the East Coast and in the South Pacific Theater aboard the Destroyer U.S.S. Rowan DD782.\ \ He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Velma Nicholson McCoy, whom he started dating as a senior in High School; and his son, Albert L. McCoy. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Carole.\ \ Visitation will be Tuesday, January 10 from 4:00 -6:00 p.m. at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram and 9:00- 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at FBC Terry. The funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will follow in the Terry Cemetery. \ \ In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to FBC, Terry Building Fund.\
