On Thursday, September 18, 2018, Lecy Bridges Purvis, Mother of 5 children passed away at the age of 92. Lecy was born in the Old Pearl Community in Simpson County and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. She was an award-winning gardener. She entered many plants in the Mississippi State Fair and won numerous ribbons including the Purple Ribbon. Her love for her daylily garden was a treasure for her and her neighbors. Lecy retired from Magnetek, previously Universal Plant, after working for 24 years. Lecy was preceded in death by her parents, Luther Bridges and Mary Ann Hawkins Bridges and also, her husband, Perry Purvis. She is survived by her 5 children, Sonny (Debbie) Purvis, Henry (Shirley Williams) Purvis, Bobby (Louise) Purvis, Martha (Mike) Bingham, and Sue (Eddie) Dear; 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday, September 20th from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. A Celebration of Life will be Friday, September 21st at 11:00 a.m. at Antioch Baptist Church with Visitation one hour before at the church. Burial will take place at Poplar Springs Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Mark, Dewayne, David, Aaron, Beau, Jason, and Walley.
