Lee Edward Chavers, 76 , passed away Sunday, February 5, 2012 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. Visitation will be 6-8pm Tuesday, February 7 at Chancellor Funeral Home of Byram and 10am until the 11am funeral service Wednesday, February 8 at First Baptist Church of Fannin. Interment will follow in the church Cemetery.\ \ Mr. Chavers was a native of Oak Grove, LA .He had lived in Brandon for the last 5 years having previously lived in Terry for 20 years. Mr. Chavers was a lifelong forklift mechanic, having owned and operated his own business for years, retiring in 1997. He was an avid fisherman and member of Cane Creek Outdoor Club. Mr. Chavers had been a deacon at Parkway Baptist Church for over 50 years and was presently a member of First Baptist Church of Fannin.\ \ He is preceded in death by his parents, Berry Hansford & Annie Mae Chavers; brothers, Talmadge, Wayland, W.L. (Bug) and Harvey Chavers; sisters, Bonnie Toney, Ruth Zigler, and Polly Boyte.\ \ Survivors included his wife of 56 years Thelma Chavers of Brandon; sons, Arnold (Cathy) Chavers of Little Rock, AR and Rickie (Leatha) Chavers of Florence; brother, Billy Chavers of McNeil, MS; sister, Emma Lee Bonner of Oak Grove, LA; grandchildren, Lee, Robert, Crystal, Rebecca, Kim and Christina and 10 great grandchildren.\ \ Special thanks to Dr. Patel, the nurses of Jackson Oncology and nurses at St. Dominic for their loving care to Mr. Chavers and his family and to the church family of First Baptist Church of Fannin, for their prayers, cards and support.\ \ Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Fannin Building Fund at 101 Church Rd., Brandon, MS 39047.
