Leon Nichelson

Leon Nichelson passed into the arms of Jesus on Monday, June 6, 2022, at his home in Braxton. He was 78 years old. The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, June 10^th from 11:00 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. funeral service all at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. He will be laid to rest in the Garden of Memories.

Leon was born February 16, 1944, in George County, Mississippi to the late Sheppard and Ida Davis Nichelson. He retired from the Local 110 out of Pascagoula, MS as a pipe welder. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and tinkering on cars. He loved animals and raising chickens. He also enjoyed boxing, old westerns, sitting on the porch watching nature and socializing with others.

Along with his parents, he is also preceded in death by his siblings, Lavonia Harrison, Charles Nichelson and Harold Nichelson. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Vickie Nichelson of Braxton; his children, Tony Nichelson of Lucedale, Curt Cooley (April) of Florence, Chris Nichelson (Lindsey) of Florence and Kelly Nichole Woods of Florence; brothers, Richard Nichelson (Margie) of Lucedale and Edward Nichelson of Lucedale; sisters, Ann Dyer (Bruce) and Alice Hodges; 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.
