Leroy Durrett

LeRoy Durrett, 77, passed away Monday, September 26, 2011 at the VA Medical Center in Jackson. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 28th at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence from 5:30-8 pm and Thursday from 11am until the 12pm service in the chapel with interment at Florence Cemetery.\ \ LeRoy loved the Lord and his church at Epworth United Methodist Church until its closing. When he moved to the Florence area in recent years, he transferred to Marvin United Methodist Church where he was fondly thought of. He had been a youth and adult Sunday School teacher all of his adult life and loved each precious one in his Sunday School Classes. He used his beautiful tenor voice in the choir and now he is singing in the heavenly choir.\ \ LeRoy graduated from Forest Hill High School and Millsaps College. Upon graduation from Millsaps College, he joined the Air Force and served in the Strategic Air Command.\ \ He paid his way through college at Millsaps by working at the Yeagley Food Store and was employed...
