Mrs. Lillian Bernice Thornton

Lillian Bernice Thornton, 92, formerly of Jackson, passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Highland Home. Visitation will be 6-9pm Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Services will be 10am Thursday, October 30, 2014 in the funeral home chapel with a one hour visitation prior to service time. Graveside services will follow at Utica Cemetery. Bernice was born January 1, 1922 in Wesson, MS and later moved to Utica, MS. She was raised in the Baptist faith. All of Bernice’s family, children and grandchildren knew her as “Nanny”. She was loved deeply and respected greatly by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years George Thornton, two sons, Allen and Frank Thornton. She leaves behind three daughters; Dorothy Presley of Mission, TX, Joyce Gilmer (Larry) of Terry, MS, Vicki Childs (Alton) of Lake Charles, LA and one son Robert Thornton (Tammy) of Canton; one daughter-in-law Tenny Thornton of Madison; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and one great, great grandson.
