Linda Jo "DoeDoe" Hammack

June 25, 1944 — February 14, 2025

Terry

In the early hours of February 14, 2025, Linda Jo Mounce (Miller) Hammack passed away and went to be with our Lord and Savior. She is predeceased by her husband, Bobby Hammack, and her parents, Merle and Gerald Mounce.

Linda leaves behind her three daughters, Amy (Marcelo), Alison (Frankie), and Susan (Scott), and her stepson, Richard (Jennifer). Affectionately known as DoeDoe, she cherished her grandchildren: Austin (Victoria), Taylor (her favorite granddaughter), Daniel (Brooklyn), Oliver, Seth, Wyatt, and Chase, as well as her five great-grandchildren.

Born in Angie LA, during WWII, Linda did not meet her father until she was 18 months old, once the war ended. She was the eldest of five children, with siblings Jerry, Anita, Ruth, and Martin. The family moved to Florence, MS when she was fourteen, and she remained in the general area for the rest of her life.

Linda’s home was always open, and everyone was welcome. She had a gift for making people feel at home, whether they were family, friends, or strangers. Her hospitality and warmth created a haven where laughter and love were always in abundance.

Lind was a beacon of light in our lives, a soul whose gregarious personality and love touched everyone she met. Her unwavering faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her through every joy and challenge; one of her favorite memories was her involvement with the youth group at Star Baptist Church. She believed that laughter was a gift from God, and she shared that gift generously. Whether it was her clever jokes or her infectious smile, she had a way of making people feel cherished and uplifted.

As we remember Linda, we celebrate the countless memories she created with us. From her delicious Sunday dinners that brought the family together, to pool parties and family fishing trips, to her role as the town barber, where she skillfully cut hair for most of our friends, to her thoughtful advice that always seemed to come at just the right moment, she left an indelible mark on our hearts. Her legacy of love and laughter will continue to inspire us.

Though she has left this earthy realm, we find comfort in knowing that she is now in the loving embrace of the Lord, reunited with those who went before her. Her spirit lives on in the stories we share, the lessons she taught us, and the love she gave so freely.

May we all strive to love with the same grace, faith, and joy that Linda exemplified every day of her lift. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever be a blessing to us all.

Visitation will be held at 1 PM Saturday, February 22, at Hickory Ridge Baptist Church in Florence, followed by a 2 PM service. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful team at Clinton Health Care, whose love and support for Linda during her final years brought immense comfort and joy to all of us. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the FBCF Pack to School Program.
