Lois Valandingham

d. August 14, 2011

Lois O. Vanlandingham, 80, went to be with her Lord, Sunday, August 14, 2011 from the Baptist Hospital. \ \ Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday from 11:00 AM until the 2:00 PM Chapel service at Chancellor Funeral Home, Florence. Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery.\ \ Mrs. Vanlandingham grew up on her family's farm in Itawamba County, MS and attended Carolina School. After school she worked at the garment plant in Nettleton, MS and in 1952 she moved to Memphis, TN where she worked as a fabric inspector at American Finishing Company. In 1959 she met her soul mate, the love of her life, Thomas (Van) Vanlandingham and on Christmas Day 1960 they were married in Memphis, never to be apart again until now. \ \ In the seventies they relocated to Jackson, MS where they started their own business, Van Camp Trailer and Body, Inc., which became very successful and is still in operation today run by their son Joe. Lois & Van loved to travel in their motor home with their beloved poodles first Dusty then Rusty then Dandy. \ \ Lois was loved and respected by all who knew her. She loved to visit her neighbors especially the elderly who held a special place in her heart. Many times, on special occasions or just because she cared, she would bake cakes, cookies or make homemade candy & take to them. They loved her cooking but more important they loved her for caring. Her Church family, Trinity Baptist in Florence, loved her and her cooking too. They always looked forward to her contributions to the fellowship meals at church. She loved her relatives and was like a mother to many of her nieces and nephews when they lost their parents. She is especially loved by her son Joe whose world will be a much lonelier world without his daily talks with his wonderful, beloved mother and best friend, Lois.\ \ Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Betty Green; brothers, Audie Green, Tommy Green, Troy Green, and Robert Green; and sisters, Helen Gann and Nancy Hester. She is survived by her husband, Thomas "Van" Vanlandingham of Terry; her son, Joe Lesley of Terry; her sister Ruth Phillips of Holly Springs; grandson, Mike Montesi; and three great grandchildren.\
