Lois Barrow Clark, 95, died at Compere's Nursing Home on May 22, 2010. She was born November 2, 1915, in Jackson, MS. She had a strong belief in Jesus and accepted him as her personal savior. She and her husband, Earl Clark, established training unions all over Rankin County. Her life had a great deal of tragedy. She lost two children in tragic accidents. Benjy died at age 4, and Tim was killed in a car accident at age 33.\ \ Mrs. Clark graduated from Central High School in Jackson and then from Millsaps College with a double major in French and Latin. She was valedictorian of her class. She had a deep conviction that she wanted to contribute to the lives of other people. She worked with children at the Parkway Baptist Church kindergarten, North Minister Baptist Kindergarten, and Saint Andrews Day School. She taught first grade for over 30 years, teaching at Richland Elementary School and Florence Elementary School. After retirement, Mrs. Clark frequently visited Florence Elementary School to read to the school children.\ \ Her passions were reading, walking, and traveling. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband. They traveled all over the United States and went on several trips overseas visiting Europe, Egypt, and the Holy Land.\ \ She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Earl Clark; two sons, Benjamin Barrow Clark and Timothy Earl Clark; brother G. D. Barrow and sister Ernestine Montgomery.\ \ She is survived by two children, Carolyn Matthews and David Clark; sister Jean Barrow Harper; seven grandchildren, Judy Gregg, Ben Matthews, Scott Matthews, Brad Matthews, John Crowe, Brian Clark, and Shelley Clark; nine great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.\ \ All services will be at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Visitation will be from 5 pm to 9 pm Monday, May 24, 2010, and on Tuesday from 9 am to the 10 am service time. The graveside service will be at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Jackson.\
