Lola Lynell Lane

Lola Lynell Waltman Lane, 82, passed away on Sunday, July 20. \ \ Mrs. Lane was born April 12, 1926, to Jack Thomas and Eula Mae Waltman in Newhebron, Mississippi, and was the oldest of five children. In 1946, she married Talmage Berry Lane. Married for 46 years, he preceded her in death in 1994.\ \ Mrs. Lane served as the Church Secretary for Newhebron Baptist Church for more than 30 years. In 1994, Mrs. Lane relocated to Florence and was a faithful servant to First Baptist Church.\ \ She was an active member of the Newhebron Woman's Club, the Parnassus Club, and the Florentine Woman's Club. She was a past president of the General Federation of Woman's Clubs of Mississippi. \ \ She is survived by her brother David Waltman, of Minden, Louisiana, sisters Margie Waltman Cobb of Tyler, Texas, formerly of Hazlehurst, and Jackie Waltman Eastland of Florence. She was preceded in death by her sister Laverne Waltman Alford. She is also survived by five nieces including Linda Whitley of Tupelo, Sherry Brooking of Tyler, Texas, Jane E. Foreman of Brandon, Lane E. Roberts of Castle Rock, Colorado, Gina Waltman of Louisiana. She is also survived by four nephews including Mike Cobb of Brandon, Jeff Alford of Georgia, and Tommy Waltman and Matthew Waltman of Louisiana, and dozens of great nieces and nephews.\ \ Visitation will be held today at Chancellor Funeral Home, Florence from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, July 22, from 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. funeral service at First Baptist Church, Florence. Burial will follow at the Newhebron cemetery in Newhebron.\ \ Memorials in honor of Lynell Lane may be made to one of the following: Gideons International, the building fund for Newhebron Baptist Church, First Baptist Church Florence, or to the Blair E. Batson Children's Hospital building fund.\ \
