Mrs. Rachel Loraine Elrod went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 29, 2012. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram with interment in Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 12 Noon until service time at the funeral home.\ \ Mrs. Elrod was born on March 14, 1922 in Little Rock Arkansas and remained there for 72 years until she moved to Mississippi to be closer to her family. She was a member of Alta Woods United Methodist Church in Jackson where she loved her church family and especially enjoyed working in the church thrift shop each week. \ \ Mrs. Elrod is survived by her daughter, Raynelle Haddox (Bill) of Byram; two grandchildren, Chris Haddox of Byram and Shanna Kaye Stringer (Jason) of Terry; and four great-grandchildren: Michael Haddox, Chandler Haddox, Bailey Haddox, and Drew Stringer. She is also survived by five nieces and nephews in Arkansas and Mississippi. She will be greatly missed by each member of her family.\ \ The family would like to offer special thanks to Southern Care Hospice in guiding them through this very difficult journey and also Copiah Living Center for their excellent care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alta Woods United Methodist Church Thrift Shop Ministries.\ \
