Mrs. Lucille Kitchens Connell

Lucille Kitchens Connell, 95, of Raymond, MS passed away Thursday, March 24, 2022. Mrs. Connell and her late husband, Dennis Connell, had been residents of Riggs Manor since 2004. Prior to moving to Riggs Manor, they had lived in south Jackson in Alta Woods, and then in Brookwood Country club where they were avid golfers. She was born in Crystal Springs, MS on August 22, 1926 to the late Walter E. Kitchens and Mae Tucker Kitchens. She was employed as a school secretary in the Jackson Public Schools. She was secretary to the principal, Mr. D.T. Measells at Peeples Jr. High, then when Wingfield High school opened in 1967, she went with Mr. Measells as his secretary there. Mrs. Connell was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years; her parents; and three sisters, Louise Patterson, Lela Broadwater, and Annette Matthews. She and her husband had no children of their own, but had lots of nieces and nephews: Linda Blue, Connie Bynum, Billy Broadwater, Mike Broadwater, Johnny Matthews, Wally Matthews, Laura Bigner, and Lois Ballard along with many great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
