Lurlene Whitehead

Lurlene Crisler Savell Whitehead passed into the arms of Jesus on February 6, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was 89 years old.

Mrs. Whitehead was born April, 28, 1935 to Samuel J. and Mollie D. Savell. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Garrett; her sisters, Hester Hilton and Mildred Hobbs; brothers Leroy, Odie, Herman and Cecil Savell. 

She is survived by daughters Lavonne Berryhill (Cliff), Betty Jean Drew (Pat), and Beverly Zaremba (Bill); son Jimmy Whitehead (Jean); 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 great -great-grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews. 

Lurlene was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Terry. She taught Sunday School, served on many committees, was instrumental in implementing the Women’s Ministry Program and served as food coordinator for many lunch and dinner events. She especially loved taking dinners to homebound members. 

“Lur” loved working in the garden and growing vegetables and flowers. 

Her dining table was her ministry too. Oh, how many family members and friends gathered there over the years… So much laughter and sharing the love of Christ.

She was Garrett’s “Bride”, her children’s “Mamma”, her grands and great grands “Mamaw Lur”.
