Mr. Luther Jackson Ashley Jr.

Mr. Luther Jackson Ashley, Jr., of Florence passed into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at his home in Florence at the age of 83. The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, March 13th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. and again on Thursday, March 14th from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Funeral Service all at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories. Mr. Ashley was born in Smith County, MS to Luther and Belvia Ashley. He lived in the Florence area since 1995 and attended Star Baptist Church. He worked for Borden doing deliveries and sales before retiring. He was not a good retiree, however. He loved to work and be busy, and he wanted to do things himself; some would even call him a “workaholic”. When he did relax, he enjoyed fishing gardening and working in the yard. And he could always find time for his snack cakes and his milkshakes. Mr. Ashley was the last living sibling of his 7 brothers and sisters. Along with his parents and his siblings, he was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years who passed away 7 short weeks ago, Mrs. Nell Ashley. He is survived by his daughters, Rhonda (Larry) Allen of Jackson and Jennifer (Anthony Cole) Signaigo of Florence; granddaughter, Haley Sims and great grandson, Dawson Cole.
