Mr. Luther McNeil “L.M.” Odom passed into the loving arms of Jesus on Friday, November 25, 2022, at his home in Florence, MS. He was 80 years old. The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, December 2nd from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at First Pentecostal Church in Jackson and again on Saturday, December 3rd from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service all at First Pentecostal Church in Jackson. Burial will follow at Dykes Chapel Cemetery in Richton.
L.M. was born on September 16, 1942. His loving parents were the late Dina Mae Everette and Winfred Everette. L.M. loved trains and always wanted to work for the railroad. He fulfilled his dream and started working with GM&O Railroad at the young age of 18 and continued to work with the railroad for 43 years until he retired from Kansas City Southern Railroad. L.M. loved the Lord and was a devoted and involved member of First Pentecostal Church in Jackson. He loved his family, especially his two grandsons. He enjoyed fishing and doing yard work. He desired to get strong enough to get back on his mower and to do work in his yard.
L.M. is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 58 years, Edna Odom; daughters, Stephanie Bradshaw (George) of Florence and Aleta Guthrie (David) of Brandon; his brother, Irvis Dale Everette (Sharon) of Leakesville; grandsons, Connor Bradshaw and Bryan Guthrie; and a host of very special nieces and nephews and cousins.
