Machiel Perkins, 84, died Sunday, March 15, 2009 at Hospice Ministries.\ \ Visitation is scheduled from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at Chancellor Funeral Home, Byram and Wednesday from 10:00 until the 11:00 Funeral Service at Fellowship Baptist Church. Burial will be in Florence Cemetery.\ \ Born Aug 18, 1924 in Jackson, Mrs. Perkins was raised in Raymond and attended Raymond High School, Hinds Junior College, and graduated the Touro Infirmary School of Nursing in New Orleans, where she was a member of the U.S. Nurse Cadet Corp during WWII. Later she was employed in Veteran Hospitals in MS, LA, and TX. She was one of the nurses hired to help open the University Medical Center in 1955 and was the first 11-7 nurse supervisor. She retired as Assistant Director of Nursing after 31 years. She had been a member of Fellowship Baptist Church since 1989.\ \ She is preceded in death by Her husband James Grant Perkins, Parents Frank and Hallie Mae Singletary, Sister Fannie Singletary Mullett and Nephew Frank Mullett.\ \ She is survived by her Daughter Judy Perkins Alford and Husband Frank of Richland; \ Granddaughter Lisa Alford Cavanaugh and husband Josh; and niece Nancy Mullett Service.\ \ The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. George SmithVaniz, the CMMC 3SE nurses and to Hospice Ministries for their loving care.\ \ Donations may be made to Fellowship Baptist Church, 3828 S.
