Mr. Major Charles “Buddy” McGowan, 94, of Byram passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his family. The family will receive friends 4pm-6pm Sunday, August 22, 2021, and 9am until the 10am Funeral service Monday, August 23, 2021 at Chancellor funeral Home in Byram. Burial will follow in Lakewood Memorial Park. Mr. McGowan was born June 21, 1927 in Victoria, TX to Major Charles McGowan, Sr., and Margaret Terrel Hill McGowan. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy, serving during World War II and was a faithful member of Jackson Revival Center. He loved God and had a passion for teaching others about God. He was called by God to teach and to look at others for who they could be and not what they looked like on the outside. The Lord told him to feed his people and give them a vision for their future. He loved his family, especially his wife Catherine to which he was married 45 years. Those preceding him in death include his wife of 45 years, Catherine McGowan; parents; daughters, Peggy Ann Roberts, Rebecca Lynn Stubblefield; brothers, Bruce McGowan, Jerry McGowan; sisters, Margaret Glazner, Glenda Edwards and Rebecca McGowan. Family left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Mary Ann (Pat) Russell of Florence, MS; sisters, Betty Jo Raymond of Byram, MS, Mary Josephine Jones of Brandon, MS, Delores Fay (Sid) Holliday of Raymond, MS and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
