Mrs. Mamie C. Breckenridge

Mrs. Mamie C. Breckenridge, 91 of Raymond, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 26, 2013 at Riggs Manor in Raymond. Visitation will be Friday, December 27th from 3pm-6pm at First Baptist Church Raymond and Saturday, December 28th from 1pm until the 2pm funeral service at the church followed by interment at Lakewood Memorial Cemetery in Clinton. Mamie was born on February 8, 1922 to Sam Douglas and Lillie Bruce Campbell. A native of Fentriss in Choctaw County, she lived in Jackson since childhood. She went to Enochs Junior High and Central High School. Mamie married Irvin Leon Breckenridge, Sr. and made their home in Jackson where they lived until her husband’s death in 1988. They were former members of Robinson Street Baptist Church and Oak Forest Baptist Church. Mamie co-owned the Beauty Box Hair Salon on Ellis Avenue for 37 years. She was a member of Eastern Star, Wahabi Shrine Partrollettes, Woman of the Moose Lodge, and several military and hair fashion organizations. Mamie moved to Raymond in 1988 where she soon joined First Baptist Church Raymond. Mamie was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Irvin Leon Breckenridge, Sr.; her son, Irvin Leon Breckenridge, Jr.; and daughter-in-law Betsy Gordin Breckenridge. Mamie is survived by her daughter, Sandra McAlpin (O.T.); sister, Sammie Campbell Niles; grandchildren, Cindy Wilson (Mike Sr.), Randy McAlpin, Trey Breckenridge (Ginny), and Chandler Breckenridge (Emily); great-grandchildren Michael Wilson, Jr. (Brandi), Jonathan Wilson, Brendan McAlpin, Lauren, Wyatt, and Jessie Breckenridge, and Campbell & Carter Breckenridge; great-great-grandchildren Anna Claire & Paxton Wilson. The family would like to thank Ms. Florence Denby and Frances C. Burns for their loving care and Dr. Paul Vanlandingham, Jennifer Kelly and Vicky Miles of the Premiere Medical Group.
