Mamie Ruth Compere Sowell

Mamie Ruth Compere Sowell passed into the arms of Jesus on Monday, December 26, 2022, in Collierville, TN.  She was 86 years old.  The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, from 4:00 p.m.-7:00p.m. and on Thursday, December 29, 2022, from 10:00 a.m.-11:00a.m. all at Chancellor Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m.

Mrs. Mamie was born on October 13, 1936, to the late William Enochs Compere and Johnnie Buck Lewis in Florence, MS. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Richland and a member of the Richland Exchange Club. Mamie worked for the Rankin County School District for 31 years. She enjoyed reading, baking, and watching sports, especially football and basketball. Mamie believed in family, Faith, and hard work.

Along with her parents, Mamie is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Marlon E. Sowell; brothers; William Lee Compere, Fred Compere, Louis Compere, and Buddy Compere; sister; Margaret Gordon. She is survived by her son; Marlon Ray Sowell of Richland; daughter; Miriam Renee Eubanks (Shawn) of Collierville, TN; grandchildren; Dr. Madison Fullen (Jon) of Shepherdsville, KY, Mallory Reiser (Quintin) of Collierville, TN, Todd Eubanks of Collierville, TN, and Ty Eubanks of Collierville, TN; great grandchildren; Channing Reiser and Essi Reiser; brother; L. D. Compere of Florence, MS.
