Mamie Gray Barlow Glass, 86, of Star, died peacefully on May 16, at Baptist Medical Center. She has resided a little of a year at Briar Hill Nursing Home in Florence, MS. \ \ Visitation will be Wednesday, May 18 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence, from 5-8pm. A Graveside service will be held Thursday, May 19 at Wesleyanna Cemetery in Star at 10am.\ \ Mamie was a life long member of Star Baptist church. Born and raised in Star, she loved living a simple life of caring for her home and flowers, in addition to raising her two sons.\ \ At the age of forty, she began nursing school at the old Gilfoy School of Nursing. As a nurse she enjoyed ministering to the sick at Mississippi Baptist Hospital and clinical nursing for Doctors Temple Ainsworth, Joel Alvis and Wofford Merrell. She completed her nursing career at Briar Hill Nursing home where she worked for 20 years.\ \ She was preceded in death by her parents, Alma and Grady Barlow, her two brothers and her husband, Melvin. She is survived by her son, Jerry Glass (Lynda) of star, and Larry Glass (Mary) of Flowood; three grandchildren, Brian Glass of Star, Lauren Glass of Swannano, NC, and Ryan Glass (Bevin) of Richland; one precious great granddaughter, Kathryn Gray Glass of Richland; her beloved sister, Barbara Rice (R.C.) of Star; and many nieces and nephews and extended family.\ \ The family wishes to thank Dr. Sam Peeples for his compassionate care and to the entire staff of the Briar Hill Nursing Home for their concern and professional assistance.\ \ In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mississippi Baptist Children's Village, PO Box 27, Clinton, MS 39060.\
