Margarett Chandler Speed, 89, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, November 16, 2011, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Visitation will be 5-7 pm Saturday, November 19, 2011, at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Services will be Sunday, November 20, at 1:30 pm, Alta Woods Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Leaf River Baptist Church Cemetery, Collins, MS.\ \ Mrs. Speed moved to Jackson in 1952 from Conroe, TX. She retired from Jackson Public Schools, having taught at Sykes Elementary School, Raines Elementary and Central High School. She was very active at Alta Woods Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School teacher, Cradle Roll and Homebound Ministries, and WMU. Mrs. Speed was a loving wife for 62 years, mother and grandmother. She loved to sew and paint—and she could grow anything!\ \ She is preceded in death by her husband Hudson Speed, grandson Trevor Speed, and parents Willard and Gladys Chandler. Survivors include her sons Bryan H.
