Mrs. Marguerite Day Parker

Mrs. Marguerite Day Shands Parker, 93, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at MS Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Visitation was Thursday, April 2nd from 12pm until the 1pm Funeral Service at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Burial followed at Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson. Mrs. Parker was born on April 28, 1921 in Crosby, MS to Robert U. Day and Ida Bell Whittington Day. She graduated from Crosby High School and later from Copiah Lincoln Junior College. She moved to Jackson and worked as Secretary for the Mississippi Supreme Court. She married Garvin Dugas Shands, who preceded her in death. She moved to Florence and married William Carey Parker, who also preceded her in death. Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, four brothers, including her twin, Augustine Day. She is survived by her long time friend, Norma Bolden and her family in Florence and a host of Nieces and Nephews.
