Martha Ann Courtney-Durr, 80, of Florence went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 17th, 2012, at Brandon Nursing & Rehab. Visitation will be Sunday, August 19, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. until services at 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church-Florence. Interment will follow in Florence Cemetery.\ \ Born in Florence on March 5, 1932, a daughter of Laura and Bryan Courtney, she was preceded in death by her husband: Carl Durr. She is survived by her brother and his wife: Dewey and Etta Rae Courtney, as well as three nephews: Dewey Jr., Timothy and Troy Courtney. Also surviving her are great nieces: Tristin and Bayleigh Courtney, and great nephews: Caleb, Cody and Cameron Courtney.\ \ She was also an active member, and past president, of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), organizing school and community activities. . She had a Masters in music from Baylor University.\ \ Martha Ann's name was synonymous with music because of her years of service at First Baptist Florence, as a music teacher in the Florence school system, and in the giving of piano lessons. Her devotion to sharing the gift of music throughout many years in Florence and the surrounding communities will be greatly missed
