Martha Frances Russell, 83, passed away on Monday, March 15, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. A graveside service will follow at 4:00 p.m. at Eastover Memorial Cemetery in Oxford, MS. Born in Ponotoc, MS on October 20, 1937 to Zenis and Opal Simmons, Mrs. Russell was a Navy wife to husband, Dewell, before moving to Jackson in 1971. She worked in the Epworth Methodist Church Daycare for more than thirty years. Known to all as “Mamaw”, she loved her family and taking care of people. Martha loved birds, especially hummingbirds. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her “Honey” and husband of 50 years, Dewell Russell and brother, Kenneth Simmons. She is survived by her daughters, Glenda (Keith) Alford of Brandon, Sharon (Glenn) Hall of Mt. Olive, and Melanie (Jeff) Robertson of Brandon; brothers, Danny (Carolyn) Simmons of Oxford and Bill Simmons of Southhaven; sister, Nina (Lewis) Henry of Oxford; seven grandchildren, Jaime (Andy) Wheeler, Jennifer Isonhood, Brian (Lauren) Alford, Chelsey (Thomas) Andries, Sara McCraw, Chasity Robertson, and Raegan Wilson; and seven great-grandchildren, Marleigh Blush, Anna Layce McCraw, Jackson McCraw, Tatum Andries, Rory Wilson, Cohen Wilson, and Beckham Andries.
