Martin Davis

Martin Lee Davis, 94, of Florence died Saturday, December 31, 2011 at University Hospital. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 5 at 11:00 am at Chancellor Funeral Home with visitation on Wednesday January 4 from 5:00-8:00. Born in Keytesville, Mo, he served as a medic in the US Navy from 1943-1946 and participated in the invasion of Okinawa Shima, Ryukyu Islands. He was employed by Beamon Drug and the owner of Marge's Hallmark Shop in Jackson. Preceded in death by his daughter Pamela Sue Davis, he is survived by his beloved wife Marge, his daughter Sara Webb Smith of Shepherdstown, WV, his grandsons Lt. Col. Stephen M. Smith of Washington, DC and Michael C. Smith and great grandchildren Sophie and Alex of Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Florence.
