Mary Becknell

Mary Edna Lewis Becknell, 87, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2013 at Copiah Living Center. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 16 at Springridge UMC from 9:30AM until 11:00AM with the funeral service at 11:00. Graveside services will follow at Springridge cemetery. Mary Edna was born April 8, 1926. She is survived by her son Joe Lewis(Jan); daughter Bettye Johnson(Art); grandchildren Casey Lewis, Christopher Lewis, Jay Johnson and Lee Johnson; great-grandchildren Samuel, Joy, Nathan, Noel, Gideon, Ellery, Willa and Cooper; brothers Jerry Jackson(Margie) and Don Jackson( Marilyn); sisters Audrey Hamilton, Betty Jean Boleware; and a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husbands Homer Becknell and Bobby Lewis; parents Rowan and Leona Jackson; sisters Elga, Claudine and Doris; brothers Tally and Cooper. She was an active member of Springridge UMC for over 68 years. Retired from JC Penney and continued working in retail until the fall of 2012. She was an avid gardener.
