Mary Bell Buford Roberts went to her heavenly home January 22, 2018. Born to the late T. E. and Plummie Buford, Mary lived much of her life in Jackson. She spent many years serving in all positions of the Hinds County and Mississippi Ladies Auxiliary, Plumbing Heating Cooling Contractors and later the National President and lifetime member. She was retired from AT&T. After retirement, she and her husband spent several memorable years living at Eagle Lake and very much enjoyed fishing and entertaining at their cabin, later moving to Crystal Springs. Her hobbies also included, sewing, painting, reading and spending time with her family especially her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Byram and the Friendship Sunday school class and she loved her church family. Mary is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, James L. Roberts, her parents, sisters Jane Johnson and Margie Atchison and brother T. D. Buford. She is survived by her loving children, James Leonard (Connie) Roberts of Madison, Edwin Newton (Michele) Roberts of Florence and Marilyn (Jerry) Garth of Crystal Springs; grandchildren James (Stacy) Roberts of Florence, Stacey (Tad) Williams of Madison, Adam (Tisha) Cox of Madison, Amy (Jay) Norwood of Vicksburg, Lindsey (Zack) Smith of Florence and Cody (Meagan) Roberts of Florence; great grandchildren, Lani and Addi Roberts, Nash and Knox Williams, Mary Carolyn and Ellis Nichols, Kate Cox, Luke Norwood, Landry, Slade and Cruz Smith and Parker Beaux Roberts. She is also survived by sisters Doris Dean of Kosciusko, Sarah Allbritton of Raymond, brother Howard Buford of Terry, sister-in-law Shirley Buford of Jackson and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Preston McDonnell and the staff at Copiah County Medical Center for the compassionate care shown to our mother and us. Mary will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Byram (building fund) 7541 Siwell Road, Byram MS 39271. Visitation will be 5-7pm Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Visitation will continue Thursday, January 25, 10am until the 11am funeral service in the funeral home chapel, followed by interment at Lakewood South.
