Mary Maxine Wallace Burnside born November 15, 1927 passed through heaven’s gates on Friday, May 31, 2019. She was the wife of Joe Burnside who preceded her in death in 2013. Mrs. Burnside’s only child was Julia Dianne Burnside of Charlotte, North Carolina, who died at the age of 58 after a brief illness. Her surviving family members include two sisters, Hazel Poole and Mary Poole, as well as nephews and nieces, Adolf Mills, Anthony Wallace, Judy Harrington, and Peggy Holloman and their families. Besides being a dedicated wife and mother, Mrs. Burnside was a beloved friend to many throughout her life. She was employed by the state of Mississippi and retired from her position as a Supervisor in the Disability Determination Services Department after many years of committed service. Mrs. Burnside and her husband were longtime loyal members of the Forest Hill United Methodist where they served in various ministries. Mrs. Burnside’s love for her Lord was evident, and as she “let her light shine” for Him, she was an inspiration to many. Her years on earth were a testimony of perseverance and faithfulness in the One who has kept her from falling and Who has presented her faultless before the glory of His presence, the only wise God, her Savior, to whom belongs all glory, majesty, dominion, and power now and forever. A celebration of life service will be held Monday, June 3, 2019 at the Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram, Mississippi at 10:00 A.M. with Dr. Jerry Smith, pastor of Wynndale Baptist Church presiding. Visitation will precede the service beginning at 9:30 A.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wynndale Baptist Church in appreciation of its members’ dedicated ministry.
