Mrs. Mary Hoobler Lane went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 31, 2014. She was born January 13, 1921 in Manchester, OH to Ralph and Kathryn (Carrigan) Hoobler. Visitation will be from 5-7pm on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram, MS. Services will be 10am Friday in the funeral home chapel with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service. Mary was the oldest of four children. She had three younger brothers - Donald, John, and George. Her parents and brothers preceded her in death as did her husband of 66 years. Mary graduated from Manchester High School in 1939. She graduated from the Cincinnati School of Business in 1941 and went to work for the Army Air Corps at Patterson Field in Dayton, OH. In 1942, she was assigned to Trindad in support of the war effort and met her husband, Albert M. (Bud) Lane. They were married on December 18, 1942. She retired from civil service in 1972 at Wright-Patterson AFB, Dayton, OH. She and her husband moved to Hudson, FL and spent 30 wonderful years there. They moved to MS in 2001 and spent their remaining days in the Jackson area. Mary was always active in the Methodist Church beginning with the Manchester Methodist Protestant Church in Manchester, OH. She accepted the Lord at a young age and followed Him till she stepped into heaven with a smile on her face last Sunday morning. She had a servants heart. She worked diligently in the Enon UMC, Enon, OH; the Hudson UMC, Hudson, FL; Williamsville Ind. Methodist Church, Kosciusko, MS; Trinity Wesleyan Church, Byram, MS. There are untold numbers of souls touched by Mary Lane for the Lord. Mary is survived by her three sons; Pastor David Lane and wife Janis, Donald Lane and wife Shahida, and Pastor Doug Lane and wife Gail; grandchildren, Maj. David Lane II (Ret. USMC) and wife Angie, LtCol Derek Lane (USMC) and wife Jill, Katherine Lane Hughes and husband Josh, Brent Lane and wife Bregitte, Amanda Kimbrell Purser and husband Darren, Al Kimbrell and wife Amanda, Abigali Lane, McKenzie Lane Powers and husband, Codi. She has 18 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, nephews, nieces, and cousin. .
