Mary Joann Oswalt

Mary Joann Oswalt, 75, passed away on Thursday, June 16,2 022 at her home in Byram, MS. Visitation will be held at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram, MS on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 from 5:00 p.m.—8:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Garden of Memories in Florence, MS.

A resident of Byram since 1988, Joann was born on January 25, 1947 to Hubert Sumrall and Louise Williams Sumrall. After a ten-year career as a schoolteacher, she was employed with the Department of Disability and Determination Services as a case reviewer. Joann was a member of the Patriot Guard Riders and attended Country Woods Baptist Church. She loved her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Randy Oswalt and brother, Brian Edward Sumrall. She is survived by two sons, Steven Oswalt and Jonathan (Carman) Oswalt, both of Byram; grandchildren, Mary Claire and Caitlyn Oswalt; and nephews, Edward Sumrall and Neal Sumrall.
