Mrs. Mary Margaret Phillips

December 28, 1941 — March 19, 2015

Mary Margaret Sullivan Phillips, 73, arrived in Heaven on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Visitation will be Friday, March 20th from 5pm-8pm and Saturday, March 21st from 11am until the 12pm Celebration of Life Service all at Hickory Ridge Baptist Church in Florence. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories. Mrs. Phillips was a homemaker and award winning cake decorator but her calling was as an honorable wife, loving mother, nurturing grandmother and adoring great-grandmother. Her family was her life and serving the Lord was her passion. Mrs. Phillips was an active member of Hickory Ridge Baptist Church where she was actively involved in several committees and led the activities committee until her health declined. She lived by the words “Faith without work is dead” and she was always one to do the work. She felt it was not her work to do but HIS work and when she recognized a need somewhere or in someone, she strived to help meet that need; whether it was through an encouraging word, a hot meal, or place to lay their head. She was a care taker and spent her entire adult life taking care of others. Mrs. Phillips is preceded in death by her parents, Windom and Vallie Sullivan; son-in-love, Bruce Thames; and sister, Shirley Smith. She is survived by her soul-mate of 55 years, Gibson Phillips of Richland; son, Andy Phillips (Dianne) of Florence; daughters, Sharon Thames of Byram and Angelia (John) Hall of Fannin; grandchildren, Justin, Michael (Chad), Chris (Jessica), Michelle, Heather, Kala, Casey (John) Hallie and Garrett; 9 great grandchildren; brother, Pat Sullivan of Mendenhall; sister, Judy (Jimmy) Phillips of Florence and a host of extended family and friends. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hickory Ridge Baptist Church Building Fund.
