Mary Jane Short went to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 1, 2020. She died unexpectedly at her home in Clinton, Mississippi. The family will receive friends Saturday, October 3 at 12:00 - 1:30 PM at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram, Mississippi. The service will be held under the pavilion at Lakewood Memorial in Jackson, Mississippi at 2:00 PM. Mary Jane was born February 8, 1938 in Mobile, Alabama to Lula and James Guy. She was married to Travis Short for 53 years before his passing in 2008. She was a dedicated daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend who truly cared about the people in her life. She loved to garden as much as she could including a vegetable garden for years and loved to plant and grow a variety of flowers surrounding her home. She was a loving and protective mother that taught her children how to respect others, the love of God and hard work. She had 12 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren all of whom she loved dearly. She is survived by one brother, James Guy, two sisters, Kathy Aldridge and Dorothy Dempsey, 5 children, Janice Scalf and spouse Jaye, Preston Short, Teresa Carroll, Allen Short and spouse, Vickie and Kenneth Short. She was preceded in death by both parents, her husband Travis Short, a sister, Shirley Murray and 3 great grandchildren.
