Mrs. Maudie Lee Wilson, 89, passed into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at her home in Florence. The family will receive friends Thursday, September 2nd from 11:00 a.m. until the Funeral Service that will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl. Mrs. Wilson was born December 28, 1931 in Simpson County, MS to the late Henry and Velma Jones. She has lived in Florence since 1978 and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church which she loved dearly. She worked with AT&T as a telephone operator for 31 years and in the MS State Tax Commission mail room for 25 years. She loved her flowers, and she enjoyed cooking, painting and sewing. Along with her parents, Mrs. Wilson is also preceded in death by her siblings, Hilburn and Milford Jones, Mavis Jones, and Billy Joe Jones; and her son-in-law, Reed Luper. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Eugene “Buddy” Wilson of Florence; children, Gloria Jean Thornton of Pearl, Angie Roberts Luper of Pearl, Debbie (Keith) Stevens of Pearl, Teresa Wilson of Ellisville, and Steve Wilson of Richland; brother James Jones of Mendenhall; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
