Mr. Maurice J. Joy Sr.

Mr. Maurice J. Joy, Sr., 82, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2013 at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence with interment in Floral Hills Cemetery in Pearl. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday and from 9:00 AM until service time Wednesday. Mr. Joy was a firefighter, most recently the Chief of the Richland Fire Department, where he retired. Mr. Joy was preceded in death by his parents, John and Cathryn Joy; wife, Joy Joy; daughter, Lisa Joy; and brother, Joe Joy. He is survived by his son, Maurice Joy, Jr. (Malinda) of Florence; daughter, Candace Joy Johnson of Brandon; brother, Leonard Joy of Pennsylvania; and sisters, Fran Walker, Mary Hanlon, Alice O’day, Jean Mensh, Midgi Hare, and Kay Dunmoyer. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Justin Joy, Austin Joy, Christopher Franklin, Jolie Johnson, and Karlie Johnson. Family requests memorials be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or the American Heart Association.
