May Dorothy Phillips Shook, 93, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 16th from 5-8 p.m. and Wednesday, January 17th from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Burial will follow at Florence City Cemetery. Mrs. Shook, a retired Federal Employee, was a native of Starkville, MS and attended Longview High School. She moved to Jackson in 1957. She was Retired from the VA Hospital as well as a retired realtor. She served on the Ladies Auxiliary Post 687 and was most recently a member of Corinth Baptist Church in Magee. Mrs. Shook was preceded in death by her parents, Ruben Lee and Louella Phillips; husband of 69 years, Reece Shook, Sr; son, Reece Shook, Jr.; brothers, Hayward Merle Phillips and Felix Phillips; sisters, Ella Faye Hamilton, Homa Lee Shurden, Gladys Galanos, Maggie Ivy. She is survived by her children, Paul A. Shook “Pete” of Greenbrier, AR, Edna Raye Moore of Springfield, MO, Debbie Marsh of Magee, MS, and Rebecca Faye Shook of Florence, MS; brother, Paul E. Phillips of Dothan, AL; 13 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to St. Jude Research Hospital in Memphis or Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children in Jackson.
