Mrs. Melanie Dickson Manning

Melanie Dawn Dickson Manning, 44, a native of Jackson, MS and currently residing in Florence, MS, met Jesus face to face on March 3, 2020 where all her pain, sorrows and tears were wiped away after fighting a courageous battle of untreatable illnesses. Melanie Dawn was born on May 7, 1975 to Jeff and Jennifer Dickson. She brought so much joy to everyone’s lives. She graduated from Forest Hill High School in 1993 and was a graduate of Belhaven College. Melanie went on to work at Belhaven College in the adult education program before starting her family and becoming a stay-at-home mom to her two precious boys, Mason and Parker Manning. She serves as PTO president of Steens Creek Elementary and was chosen parent of the year. Melanie was a long time member of Lakeshore Congressional Methodist Church where she was very active in her youth group. She later attended Hickory Ridge Baptist Church. She enjoyed studying God’s word, reading her Bible and sharing her testimony with others. She enjoyed being creative with scrapbooking and photographing her two favorite subjects, her sons Mason and Parker. Melanie often quoted how special it was being a mom of boys. Melanie is survived by her two precious sons, Mason Todd Manning and Parker Dickson Manning; her husband, Todd Manning; her loving and devoted parents, Jennifer Steinwinder Dickson and Jeffrey Allan Dickson; brother, Daniel (Nicole) Dickson; her beloved nephew, Cash Dickson; niece, Stella Cate Dickson; sister-in-law, Brandy Manning and nephew, Grayson Manning; uncle, Phillip “Bubba” Steinwinder (Connie); aunt Diana Snell (Steve); uncle, David Dickson (Judy); and cousins, Kimberly Thiel (Dalton), Amy, Johnny, Angela, Nikki and April. Melanie is preceded in death by her grandparents, Stella “MeMe” and Glen “Pop” Steinwinder and Lillian “Granny” and Jim “Pappaw” Dickson; aunt, Patricia Bass; and uncle, James Little. Visitation and Celebration of Life will be held at Lakeshore Congregation Methodist Church on Friday March 6, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon until the 2:00 service. Graveside service to follow immediately at Lakeshore South. In lieu of flowers, Melanie had requested that donations be made to Lakeshore youth group, American Ex-Prisoners of War, The Little Lighthouse or Gideon Bibles be placed in her memory.
