Mrs. Mercedeese Ward

Mercedeese “Mert” Ward, 80, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Oasis Health and Rehab in Yazoo City. Visitation will be Friday, June 13th from 5-8 PM and Saturday, June 14th from 9 AM until the 10 AM funeral service at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park on Clinton Blvd. Born in Forrest County, MS to the late Daniel and Bessie Clark, Mrs. Ward married at 17 and lived in Jackson all of her adult life. She took pride in her home and her family. She was homemaker supplementing the family income by taking care of children in her home. She will be remembered for being a wonderful cook. Mrs. Ward is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Allen “Dub” Ward and 8 siblings. She was survived by her sons, Houston (Jan) Ward of Flowood and Douglas (Ruthie) Ward of Terry; daughter Kathey Lunn of Ridgeland; 8 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
