Mary Alice "Mert" Dillard, 78 , went to be with her Lord and family Sunday, July 8, 2012 at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center. Visitation will be 5-8pm Tuesday, July 10 and 10-11am Wednesday, July 11 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Services are scheduled for 11am Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with burial to follow in the Hickory Ridge Cemetery in Florence.\ \ Mert was born and raised in the Hickory Ridge Community in Rankin County, but lived most of her life in Byram. She was a member of Hickory Ridge Baptist Church. She retired as a bus driver for the Hinds County School District after 17 ½ years of service. In her free time, she loved to fish.\ \ Mert was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. P.C. Quimby; husband of 30 years, Tommy Dillard, Jr.; oldest daughter, Anita Louise Carlile; grandsons, Shorty Lambert and James Ashley Wiysel; and 2 brothers.\ \ She was survived by her children, Debbie Dillard, Lynn Roberson, Kay Mitchell (Roscoe), Carole Wiysel (PeeMite) and Tom Dillard (Amy); 17 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; sister, Velma Lusk and Jenny Laird; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.\ \ Special thanks to Dr. Waldrup and Dr. Epperson.\ \ The family guest book may be signed at www.chancellorfuneralhome.com.\
