Mr. Michael "Mike" S. Bryant

Michael “Mike” Stewart Bryant, 76, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at his home in Florence. Visitation will be Friday, January 29th from 5-8 PM at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence and Saturday, January 30th from 1 PM until the 2 PM Funeral Service at Briar Hill Baptist Church in Florence. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories. Mr. Bryant was a long time member of Briar Hill Baptist Church and was retired from the State of Mississippi. He sang in Gospel Quartet’s and founded The Gospel Messengers in 1968 with his brother. He was a longtime maintenance man and he could fix anything. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren, and was best friends with his wife of 40 years before she passed away in 2006. Mr. Bryant is preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Betty P. Bryant; parents, Russell D. and Alice Bryant; and brothers, Don Bryant, Jr. and M.R. Alford. He is survived by his daughter, Alison (Bryan) Hopson of Florence; son, Donnie (Adrienne) Bryant of West, MS; sisters, Joyce (Ed) Haggstrom of Victorville, CA and Donna (Buddy) Sharp of Charleston, SC; 5 grandchildren, Kristan Bryant, D’Kota Parfait, Tyler Bryant, Rusti Bryant and Conley Bryant; and one great grandchild, Elijah Bryant.
