Michael "Mike" J. Ryder Jr., beloved son, brother, and handyman extraordinaire, passed away on February 2, 2024, at Merit Health Central. He was born on March 13, 1967, in Chicago, IL and was a resident of Byram, MS for over 30 years.
Mike was a jack of all trades and had a true passion for his work as a handyman. There was never a task too difficult for him to conquer. He could fix just about anything that was broken and took great pride in his ability to bring new life to old machinery and tackle any home repair project. Mike's career as a handyman brought joy to his life as he enjoyed the satisfaction of helping others and fixing things.
But Mike's dedication extended far beyond his career. He was a man with an incredible spirit of kindness and service. His sweet nature and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Mike's family held a special place in his heart, especially his mother. He spent countless hours taking care of her and making sure their yard was manicured to perfection. Whether it was tending to the yard or assisting with household repairs, he always went above and beyond to ensure they had everything they needed.
Mike is preceded in death by his father Michael J. Ryder Sr. and his sister Carol Ramer. Mike is survived by his mother Jean Ryder of Byram, MS; sisters Marlene Coleman of Jackson, MS and Rhonda (Ric) Whatley of Raymond, MS; brother-in-law Dave Ramer of Raymond, MS; three nieces; and two nephews.
To honor Mike's memory and the impact he made on the lives of those around him, visitation services will be held at Chancellor Funeral Home Byram Location in Byram, MS on February 6 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at the same location beginning at 6:00 PM.
Mike will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his exceptional skills as a handyman, and his selfless nature. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
In this time of grief, let us find comfort in the memories we shared with Mike and the impact he had on our lives. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
Services were rescheduled for Thursday. February 8, 2024 with a visitation from 4pm until 6 pm and the funeral service will begin at 6pm at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram.
