Michael Swofford

Michael Swofford “The Music Man” passed into the arms of his Savior on Monday, December 26, 2022, in Jackson.  He was 74 years old.  The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, December 30, 2022, from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church in Pearl. The funeral services will also be held at Antioch Baptist Church on Saturday, December 31, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Garden of Memories in Florence.

Mr. Swofford was born to the late Reverend J. J. Swofford and Lillian Avis McGregor on December 19, 1948, in Elk City, Oklahoma. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church for 33 years. For 30 of those years, he was the Minister of Music. He loved to sing and play the piano. He loved his children and granddaughter and his dog Lola Fandango. He also enjoyed working in the yard. He invested in people and genuinely cared for them.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter; Rebecca Aileen Swofford and brother; Joel David Swofford.  He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sarah Swofford from Pearl; children; Michael Swofford of Sarasota, FL; Laura Dewey (Anthony) of Bethany, OK; Phillip Swofford (Cassie) of Gautier, MS, and Jennifer Gamboa (Mike) of Brandon; granddaughter; Taylor Townsend of Knoxville, TN; sister; Wilma Hatfield of Oklahoma City, OK and many nieces and nephews.
