Mr. Michael Gordon Taylor Sr.

Michael Gordon Taylor, Sr., 62, of Jackson passed away January 2, 2014 at the VA Hospital of Jackson. Mike was born on August 14, 1951 to Bill and Wahweece Taylor in Jackson, MS. He was married to Cathy Nettles Taylor for 42 years. He and Cathy were blessed with two sons and one daughter. Mike was a dedicated and loving husband and father, a devoted Christian and member of the Baptist church. He prided his self with his family and strived to give them all they needed and more. After serving tin the US Army in the 1970’s, Mike owned and operated his own construction business of remodeling and roofing. He excelled in everything which he pursued. He cherished every moment with his family and documented with most care everything, great or insignificant, so he could return to frequently and remember. Mike was loved and adored by each and every one of his children and grandchildren. From the time they were tiny babies, his grandchildren loved spending time with Papaw and he loved spending time with them. Mike is survived by his wife, Cathy; his parents, Bill and Wahweece Taylor, of Jackson; his three children: Michael Taylor, of Philadelphia; Paul Taylor, of Florence; Mellissa Casey, of Jackson; brother, Billy Taylor of Learned; sisters, Kim Howell of Terry and Lana Fuqua of Florence; and his eight grandchildren: Grace Taylor, Abigail Taylor, Hannah Casey, Lily Casey, Jade Casey, Thomas Taylor, Olivia Casey, and Andrew Taylor. Visitation will be 12:00 noon until the 2pm funeral service Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Interment will follow at Palestine Cemetery in Raymond.
