Michelle Ann McIntosh of Florence, MS passed away at her home Monday, August 5th, 2024. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am Friday, August 9th, 2024, at Chancellor's funeral home in Florence, MS.
Michelle was born August 26th, 1996, in Flowood, MS. to Michael and Susan Eggen McIntosh. She was preceded in death by grandparents of the Eggen and McIntosh families, her mother, Susan Eggen McIntosh in 2011, and her Uncle David M. McIntosh. Survivors include her father, Michael Burns McIntosh and her sister, Maureen Rose McIntosh, Aunts and Uncles Steve and Joan Eggen, John and Karen Pilman, Michael Bigsby and Ann McIntosh Waring, Rosalea McIntosh and Dennis and Caroline McIntosh. Cousins include; Elizabeth Waring Hobbie, Audrey McIntosh Austin, Julia McIntosh Searle, Greg McIntosh, Nora McIntosh, Nick Eggen, Christopher Night, Beth Smith, Mary Thompson, Charles McPillan, Tin Eggen, and Jill Eggen.
Michelle attended kindergarten and first grade at Gary Road Elementary school then completed her primary education in the Florence school system. In high school Michelle was active in theater participating in multiple productions and a regional competition. She attended Millsaps college where she continued her interests in theater and majored in Anthropology/Archaeology. During this time, she participated in an archaeological dig in Cuzco, Peru for two months. She graduated from Millsaps with honors in 2018.
After school Michelle worked in retail sales before taking a job at the zoo as a Zookeeper. She put her heart and soul into making sure every person and animal in her care were well taken care of. Michelle had a heart of gold and anyone, especially animals, could tell this about her. She loved animals of all kinds and especially loved working at the zoo with the spider monkeys. Over the years she had variety of pets including rats, ferrets, a chinchilla, flying squirrels and a host of rescued dogs and cats. Michelle was also an avid fan of anime and gaming. She attended many anime and comic-cons, many of them as far away as Los Angeles and Atlanta. She was very talented and created her own costumes as well. She was a wonderful person who chose justice and what was right before anything else. She will surely be missed by all that knew, and the world has lost a wonderful soul and a wonderful person.
In lieu of flowers the family would ask that contributions be made to the Save The Elephants wildlife fund or Covenant House.
