Mrs. Mildred Fontenot Stanley

Mildred Fontenot Stanley, age 92, went to be with the Lord on March 14, 2015, with her family by her side. The oldest of eight children, Mrs. Stanley was born July 2, 1922, in Castor, Allen Parish, Louisiana, to Walter Jacob and Essie Hebert Fontenot. She was married to Hartman Harlan Stanley in 1940 until his death in 1986. Mrs. Stanley loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was a wonderful "Nannie" to all. She also enjoyed working in her vegetable garden, canning and freezing her vegetables and sharing them with friends and family. A very active member of First Baptist Church of Richland, she spent many hours studying the word of God. Mrs. Stanley is survived by her children, Doris Stanley Campbell (Eddie) of Brandon, and Hartman Harlan Stanley, Jr. (Cindy) of Florence; grandchildren, Doug Campbell (Kenda) of Flowood, Paige Campbell Downs (Jayson) of Virginia Beach, VA, Shay Stanley Ogletree (Robert) of Brandon, and Nicki Stanley of Florence; great-grandchildren, Peyton and Mary Katherine Campbell, Taylor and Jack Ogletree, and Cole and Reid Downs; sisters, Thelma Takacs of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Mable McGee of Oakdale, Louisiana; brother, Woodrow Fontenot of Edmond, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband; sisters, Ruth Milligan, Opal Millsap and Miami Dunn; and brother, Joe Fontenot. Doris and Harlan would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Dan Johnston and his staff at Plain View Assisted Living for the kindness shown to their mother and the entire family. Visitation will be Monday from 11a.m. until the 1p.m. Funeral Service at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Burial will follow at Florence City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Richland First Baptist Church or the charity of your choice.
