Moman Terrell Cox, Jr., 88, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 02, 2013 after a lengthy illness, he passed away at his home in Byram, MS. Visitation will be held at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram on Monday, November 4 at 5pm - 7pm and on Tuesday, November 5 from 1pm - 2pm with services at 2pm. Burial will follow at Old Good Hope Cemetery in Mendenhall. II Timothy 4:7 best describes our Daddy - ...I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith....no matter how bad he felt, he would always say he was fine. Mr. Cox was born in Aberdeen, MS on December 22, 1924 to Moman Terrell Cox, Sr. and Lucille Collins Cox of Smithville, MS. He spent most of his adult years in the Jackson and Raymond area. He lived at Riggs Manor for more than 15 years prior to moving in with his daughter after his illness. Mr. Cox was a veteran of WWII, proudly serving his country in the United States Navy. He joined the Navy in 1943 and was stationed in San Diego and Mare Island, California and Fort Worth, TX. He was awarded several medals during this time. After being honorable discharged, he made a career in sales, retiring for the second time in 2012 from Golden Flake Chips with more than 35 years of dedication. Mr. Cox was a long time member of Grace Bible Church in Ridgeland. He lived the words of the bible and was one of the most honored and compassionate person to spread the gospel, the glory and salvation to each person he met. He was truly a faithful servant for his Lord and loved his church, his church family and friends. Mr. Cox enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and loved family gatherings. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma V. Cox; his parents and two brothers, George Cox of Memphis TN and Jesse Cox of Smithville. Survivors include his daughters, Nancy (JW) Cline of Clinton, MS; LaShell (Joe) Killen of Byram, MS; step-son, Jimmie (Allyn) Gabucci of Kingwood, TX; step-daughter, Linda Sims of Mobile, AL; brother, Dick (Edna) Cox of Smithville, MS; sister, Beverly (Charlie) McFadden of Panama; sister in laws, Nell Cox of Smithville, MS and Geneva Cox of Memphis, TN; 14 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren; and his best friend and mother of his daughters, Donna Fulton of Byram.
