Mrs. Myrtle Skinner Garner

Myrtle Ree Skinner Garner, 88, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2016 at Manhattan Nursing and Rehab in Jackson. Visitation will be 10am until the 11am funeral service on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Interment will follow at Lakewood South. A native of Vicksburg, Mrs. Garner lived most of her life in South Jackson where she was a member of Parkhill Baptist Church. She was a sales associate for Kennington’s Department Store and retired from McRae’s Department Store. She is preceded in death by her husband Bennie Garner and sister, Dora Norwood. Survivors include her daughters, Ruth (Ed) Myers of Byram and Kay Slocumb of Brandon; sisters, Freda Martin of Sartarcia, Mary Ellen Farley of Mobile, AL, Alice Foote of Boston, MA, Ella Mae McCaskill of Vicksburg and Frances Warner of Prairieville, LA; grandchildren, Clay (Mila) Chastain, Michael (Michelle) Chastain, Michelle (Jason) Copeland and Brett (Valerie) Sanders; eight great grandchildren.
