Myrtle Gloria McCain, 93, passed away Monday, July 30, 2012 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. Visitation will be 5-8pm Wednesday, August 1, 2012 and 1pm until the 2pm funeral service Thursday, August 2, all at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.\ \ Mrs. McCain was born in Liberty, MS to Eff M. and Lola Coley Wilkinson. During WWII, she worked for the Civil Service at the Pentagon. In later years, after her return to Jackson, she worked for May Business Machines and McRae's Department Stores. Mrs. McCain was a sales associate with McRae's from 1966-2005, where she made many friends and won numerous awards including the Professional Salesperson designation. Gloria was longtime resident of Florence, where she raised her family and was active in many community events and organizations\ \ She is preceded in death by her husband Carl E. McCain; brothers Hyram Lawrence Wilkinson and Willard McKay; sisters Minnie Lee Duck, Leona Miller, Edna Jackson and Mattie Halford; and a previous husband, George Hightower, who died in WWII.\ \ Survivors include her sons Carl Douglas McCain of Houston, TX and Garry S. McCain of Florence, MS; grandchildren Larry McCain and Lynn Armstrong; great grandchildren Chris McCain and Carla Brady Carter and great great grandchild Dakota Butts\ \ If you would prefer, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association in lieu of flowers.
