Nancy Kelly Mayo, a beloved sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed into the arms of Jesus on March 9, 2025, in Richland, Mississippi. She was born on July 18, 1948, in Jackson, Mississippi, to Aubrey Ray Kelly and Dorothy Smith Kelly and lived most of her life in Pearl before making her home in Richland.
Nancy dedicated her career as a claims adjuster with a trucking company, where she was known for her meticulous attention to detail and commitment to her work. However, her true passions extended far beyond her professional life. Nancy loved spending time with her animals, which brought her immense joy and companionship. In her personal life, Nancy had a great love for researching genealogy, often sharing her discoveries with her family. Quilting was another cherished hobby; she created beautiful pieces that her loved ones will treasure. Additionally, she enjoyed watching HGTV, finding inspiration in the shows that captivated her imaginative spirit.
A proud member of First Pentecostal Church of Jackson, Nancy devoted 42 years of her life as a Sunday School teacher, touching the lives of countless children. Her love for singing was evident as she participated actively in the church choir, finding solace and expression in music. Her contributions to the church community were numerous, and her enduring spirit of service left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Nancy is survived by her sister, Wanda Fisher (Mike) of Madison, Mississippi, as well as her grandchildren, Sean, Hannah, Megan, and Patrick Mayo, and her great-grandchild, Oakland Mitchell. She is remembered fondly by those who cherished her and will be deeply missed.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Mr and Mrs Aubrey Kelly; her husband, Charles Lamar Mayo, a son, Bill Mayo, and a sister, Linda Griffin.
A visitation will be held on March 12, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at First Pentecostal Church of Jackson, followed by a funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM. She will be interred at Lakewood Memorial Park South at 12:00 PM on the same day.
