Mrs. Nancy Black Ray

Mrs. Nancy Black Ray, 89, passed from this earth on November 2, 2017 surrounded by her family. Services will be held on Monday, November 6 at 1:00 pm at Chancellor Funeral Home Chapel in Florence. Visitations will be on Sunday, November 5 from 4-7 pm and on Monday, November 6 from 12 pm until the 1:00 pm service. No graveside service will be held. Mrs. Ray was born on January 8, 1928 in Choctaw County, MS to Robert and Essie Black. She received her Licensed Practical Nursing Degree in 1961 and worked as a Neurosurgical LPN at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jackson until she retired with 32 years of service. Her pride and joy in life was her family and her love for nursing. Mrs. Ray is preceded in death by her mother, Essie Campbell; father, Robert W. Black; sister, Lillian Noel; brother, Thomas Ethrage Black; and son, William Mid Ray, Jr. She is survived by her daughters, Reba (Lewis) Langford and Katherine (George) Robson; daughter-in-law, Sharon Ray and daughter by love (niece) Lanell (JA) Middlebrooks. She had 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews.
