Ms. Nancy Rae Travelstead passed away at age 91, on February 4, 2023 at the Waterford Senior Living in Ridgeland. Ms Nancy was born July 14, 1931, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to Ira Hynes McDaniel and Pearl Allen. Ms. Nancy was loved by her family and was always there for them when they needed her. She was a hardworking woman who had an unparalleled work ethic. She was strong and persevered many difficult times in her life and held onto her faith and her relationship with the savior Jesus Christ. She was an active member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. She showed the love of Christ to her children and to those she encountered. She was well known for her willingness to give of herself, show kindness and compassion, and was always full of hope. You always found a smile on her face, a positive attitude, and wearing her purple and gold to support her Tigers. She was a die-hard LSU fan and tried to never miss watching them play. She adored her six children and treasured being a mother.
She is preceded in death by her children, James Carpenter, II, Ella Duncan, and Ashton Carpenter, Sr. Those left to cherish her memory are two sons, Alan Travelstead (Pam) of Terry, and Joel William Travelstead (Meredith) of Jackson, and a daughter, Linda Rae Travelstead of Jackson.
